Another glitch converting analogue to digital

Post by tonyjer »

Hi Everyone

(I use Win ME 80 have 80GB HDD and 640 Mb of RAM. I also use a Canon MV630I Digital Camcorder)

Many thanks for previous good advice.

Just a quick update on the VHS to DVD saga.

As previously stated I am attemting to transfer analogue from VHS tape using my Camcorder as a pass thru and into the PC using Firewire. (My Camcorder has AV-DV function)

The problem is that after about 5 mins of capture you get the screen message

"Do you want to change project settings to match video so that VS can smart rendet etc." Of course the capture stops at this stage but the VHS runs merrily on.

I'm sure that this doesn't happen when you capture form Camcorder in the normal way. Sure you get the flushing transcode buffer etc but the DV tape then restarts without human intervention.

This seems to happen whether you capture via MPEG or DV.

Am I going mad? Do you have to nurse and baby sit the capture throughout?

Many thanks for listening.

From Preferences, uncheck Show Messages When Inserting First Clip Into Timeline. That should stop that message from popping up during your capture.
