new user clip brightness

When I use the brightness overlay, I get poor results. Is there a better program to use to improve clips like I do with photos with my photo editing software?

For starters what are your source files, what are you viewing the results in?

Some video files will not play properly on a pc, so when changed will look poorer still, but in fact when viewed on a tv, it's proper viewing menium, will look fine.

The main reason I've always used a dedicated capture software package and not Video Studio to capture my footage, is so that I can grade the pictures for brightness, contrast, hue, saturation etc and then capture to a specified file and then import the files into video studio knowing that they are correct.

I just use the video studio preview window as a tool for the editing and rendering process and not as a guide to what the pictures actually look like.

Doing it this way, the end result always looks right on the TV. If you start trying to grade the pictures within video studio using the preview window as a guide then abandon hope all ye who enter here.

Experience teaches you the offset between what your pictures really look like and what they look like within video studio, and you can then make subtle adjustments safely within video studio.

Dear TDK1044,

... and what would be that software, to capture the video from Camcorder, whilest granting some improvements to the picture quality ?

This is somtehing for me, like a dream come true... I am not expecting miracles... But I am shooting films via a bullet (helmet) camera on my motorcycle rides, so some brightness and color, contrast improvements would be very useful.

Thanks in advanace for your reply.

Regards
Kaya
