Winamp Woes

Post by richiejazz »

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, but has anyone else had trouble playing Ulead studio created movies in winamp? I use video studio for editing/creating music videos to play in winamp amongst loads of songs. previous music vids ive had for ages work fine and so did the newly created video studio mpgs for a while, but then winamp just started seizing up whenevver it reached one. Ive investigated further and it does seem that these new files work at first but then winamp just has a fit if i come back to it after a while. I could have sworn they worked fine before, so i thought that it might be a bug in a winamp upgrade so i went back and reloaded all the previous versions of winamp with no joy, until I loaded winamp3, which seemed to play all the videos fine!!! Anyone know whats goingon here???

I don't use WinAmp, but the problem sounds "familiar"... I'll take a guess...

Have you installed any new codecs recently? I believe WinAmp can use 3rd-party codecs, and maybe you've installed a less-tolerant one... (Upgrading WinAmp might not affect the codec.)

MPEGS? MPEG-2? What format are your original source-video files?

The Ulead programs sometimes have touble editing MPEGs.

If the unedited MPEG plays OK, but the edited version is corrupt, you may need a different video editor.

I use Womble (a full-featured MPEG editor) for editing MPEG-2 files. VideoReDo is a good simple "cut & splice" MPEG editor. One user reported that his MPEG problems went away when he switched to Adobe Premere Elements.
