Unable to run DVD Movie Factory 5 Plus [Trial]

Post by cam_dav_mac »

Hi,
I'm hoping someone will be able to help me out with a problem I'm having with the trial version of DVD Movie Factory 5 Plus.
I have been running it successfully for most of the trial period and I still have eight days left.
My problem started when I was in the process of creating a new DVD project. I reached the final screen where you can start the 'Burn' process and I decided to save my project for the first time at that point. However, when the save process reached the 43% mark, my computer froze. I restarted my computer and tried to start DVD Movie Factory by clicking on the icon. My mouse displayed an hourglass for like a second and then nothing. It didn't start. I tried running the executable directly, but still nothing. I tried the Launcher, which ran fine. However, when it tried to start DVD Movie Factory, it vanished from my screen, then about 5 seconds later the Launcher main page reappeared. I have tried a clean uninstall/reinstall five times now and it still doesn't work. There are no error messages being displayed. It just doesn't run. I even uninstalled my full version of DVD Movie Factory 3 (which still worked), thinking that maybe there was a clash, but that didn't change anything.
I was planning to buy the full version at the end of the trial period, but I'm not willing to commit to that now until I'm sure that it would even work on my computer if I did install it. And I don¡¦t want to have to format my computer, as that is a right pain.
Any thoughts :?:
Cheers :),
Cam.

Have you tried system restore to a point before the crash?

There is no BEST. It's what works BEST for you.

Hey skier & maddrummer, I tried both of your suggestions, but they didn't work. For some reason, my system restore upon restart said it was unable to restore to a previous point. I tried several different restore points, with no success.
I then did some research and ran a System File Check scan, which ran successfully, but DVD MF still didn't work. I then used my Windows XP installation discs to perform a system refresh, but still nothing. So really not sure what has happened. :(
Thankyou both for replying.
Cam.
P.S. I do have XP SP2. I have updated my system info.
