video studio 8 compatibility with VR, VIDEO_TS files

Post by sergio dezorzi »

Before I buy video studio 8 I would like to know if it can work with Nero showtime files, because I have a Pioneer dvd recorder and a Pioneer Nero hard drive that produce these type of video files.

I say at the outset that I have never tried what you suggest. But I should think it really depends on what you mean by 'Nero showtime files'. Showtime will, of course, play a variety of files.

If you mean what Nero calls 'Nero Digital' files, then I suspect they are proprietary to Nero and cannot be used in other programs.

If, however, you mean the original files which are accepted by Nero and then converted to 'Nero Digital', then you can certainly use those in Video Studio and, once you have done the editing, you can convert them in Nero to 'Nero Digital' if that's what you want to do.

Try it! Download the trial version and the user's manual.

If you're going to be making DVDs, I'd suggest that you try DVD Workshop too. If you have Video Studio, you can run the Special Upgrade version of DVD Workshop Express ($150).

I haven't edited any DVD content (yet). But, some users have had success by re-naming the files in the VIDEO_TS folder to .mpg, and then re-combining them in the Video Studio timeline. (Of course, the files can't be copy-protected.)

Ken Berry, DvdDoug,
thank you for your advice, I do not know if the nero files are proprietary or not, I will find out.
I will try to download the trial version.
Regards, sergio.
