Can you use multiple Smart Sound tracks on same timeline?

Post by jwalk2c »

Dear Friends,
I am working on slide show of family pictures and need background music.
I would like to use the smart sounds that shipped with VS10.
But I want to use more than just one .
As I add a smartsound to time line I then try to shorten it as to be able to fit another on.
But I am not getting the same results as if I added multiple audio files from the audio library.
When I try to shorten the first smart sound then add another I can not control the stop and start points of the smart sounds.
They appear to stop and start at random points with gaps between .
I assume that since that is defeating the whole purpose of a smart sound then this is not possible to do?
If I can't use smart sounds then ......
Where are some good sources for background music?
Should I try removing the lyrics from cd's and use them?
Or maybe use instrumental cd's?
Thanks

With Smartsound, it is tricky. You can try to first determine the duration for your music. Place your cursor on the timeline, then enter the duration in the number (time) box. It is above Scope. Make sure you uncheck the option to auto trim. Now click Add to Timeline. The music track will be added for the duration specified, starting where your cursor is.

JW..also,don't forget that you have two sound tracks available for you. The music and the voice track. You can insert music also into the voice track and you can fade music in and out and overlap from the music track and the voice track.

Thank You Joe O

I have been able to use the voice track with regular wav.files and
using the rubber band apply crossfade with good results.
However I am not this method will work with smart sounds,
since the smart sound adjust itself to the lenght of video.
But I will give it a try.
Thank You

You can adust the smartsound music to any desired lengths. And use te two audio tracks for them. Just in cas you want the tracks to overlap.
