Blue screen crash

Post by marioaxel »

movie factory 4.

blue screen crash before starting to burn new dvd.

Customer support suggested removing, reinstalling and downloading patch. Result: blue screen crash. Customer service requests system details. No more communication, no replies to e-mails.

I've had too disinstall because of system crashes whenever I used the drive.
this seems to have eliminated the crashes.

My opinion of the product and customer service is that both are pathetic.

marioaxel, I think you'd be in a better position to criticise if you showed that you yourself had made an effort to maximise your chances of getting effective help, by providing the requested relevant information:
PLEASE READ THIS FIRST BEFORE POSTING!!!.

This is particularly important in the case of hardware related faults. How can you expect Forum members to make useful suggestions if you haven't even filled in your system information?

Thanks. I have had the computer checked out, hardware seemed ok. No harm in trying again. Loading and trying Nero is a good idea. I'll try that.
Velojet.
Thankyou for your advice. However, with the dubious product offered, the abysmal customer service tech support offered, the time I have wasted, the frustration endured I AM IN AN EXCELLENT POSITION TO CRITICISE.

Thanks, marioaxel. Now please fill in your system information in your Profile, so that it shows up when anyone clicks the 'System' button at the bottom of your messages. This will save you having to repeat it in other messages.

yes, it's a laptop, sorry I forgot to mention that.
If my venting gives the regulars here a laugh  - I'm happy. It's good to make others laugh and not a problem if it's at my expense8)
I'm not going to be able to follow through with nero for a while as time is a problem just now but I'll post back with the results as soon as I can.

I can see you are using Windows XP SP1 (xpsp.040919-1030). Have you tried to upgrade your Windows XP to SP2 (xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519) via Microsoft Update?

http://update.microsoft.com

Please let us know the burner model and how do you connect the burner with your laptop.

And yes, check the burning with Nero to see how it goes. I still think this is a hardware / driver issue in your system, not a software issue.

Well Spotted that man!!!!!
It's a newish computer and I had assumed service pack 2 was loaded!
So that's a start point when I can get to it.
The burner is integral to the computer.
I'll post again once I can spend some time on this and can post some results.
Thanks guys.

Service pack 2 loaded.
CD copied with Sonic....Fine
DVD copied with Nero....Fine
Reinstall movie factory and patch.
Copy DVD....it works.
Try again, same DVD....amother bluescreen crash.
Comp goes silly and a pop-up message keeps oming up that there is no disk in the drive. Uninstall moviefactory.
Now everytime I use the drive and remove a disk I continually get the pop-up until I restart the computer.
I can't find any more ulead files.
I have used a registry cleaner.
Is it a curse?
