Flash Animations will no longer work!

Post by Sherryluv4 »

I had this problem with VS9 when I upgraded to Flashplayer 8 until a patch was created by Ulead. Now I have VS10+ and it worked fine, at first. I think maybe the Flashplayer 9 update is causing issues. I still have VS9 installed so I opened it and Flash Files still wont play in it either. I am in the middle of a big project so a reinstall is just not possible right now. I'm not quite sure that would work anyway. I have tried patching and all files are up to date. I also did an install/reinstall of my flash player! All other programs using flash are fine. Is anyone else having this problem, and if so, does anyone have a solution? :(

Flash Animations Unreadable

Post by jimswinder »

I am getting an error message saying "The content of these files is Unreadable" when I drag it into the timeline...was hoping to find an answer here, but none so far that I can find.

My computer only recently upgraded the Flash player. The previous version certainly worked with the flash animations included in VS10+ and with others I have on my system. (I also have the full Macromedia suite installed.)

However, like jimswinder, I too am now getting the same message when I try dragging one of the stock VS10 flash clips into either the main timeline or an overlay track...

I also appear to be having a senior's moment as I cannot recall how I used to insert external .swf files into my projects. I have looked in both drop down lists of formats under Insert Video and Insert Image, and .swf is not listed in either as being an acceptable format.

EDIT: after writing the above, I opened my Macromedia Flash Pro 8. The stock flash clips that came with VS10 all work perfectly in it, as do other flash animations I have stored on the computer.

So either the new flash player has some conflict that will not allow VS10 to play them, or else something in its installation has completely wiped the format from the VS10 set-up... :?:

On your advice, I just ran a Repair. But unfortunately, it did not rectify the problem. Still get the same message when attempting to insert one of the stock flash animations. And .swf still does not appear as an accepted format in the drop-down lists.

Checking Back in Still having problems with flash

Post by Sherryluv4 »

The issues with flash are a Ulead problem for sure. I refuse to do any repair attempts or reinstalls. I did that with version 9 only to have Ulead finally make a patch. I am truly disappointed that this has been a problem before and is not being addressed quickly. (At least that a solution will be forthcoming) I just finished a 3 DVD project that I would like to have used flash with. I have tons of flash animations that were useless. I did manage to throw in a few animated GIF files by using chroma key, but if I could have converted them to flash and used them, they would have been a whole lot easier to work with. When I create projects this big, I generally use video, images, a very very large library of transitions that are plug ins, flash and gif. I'll just throw this one out here as an idea for you. Canopus makes a program called Albums that puts a great opening to projects. It is a transition program where you can create a lot better albums than uleads as you can personalize, add text, color etc. It does work as a plug in with VS10

Same issue

Post by msheidow@comcast.net »

I'm having the same exact issue with the sample shockwave files that came from ulead. I'm hoping that someone from ulead will pop in and send us a patch from heaven! It's definitely Ulead - not project, computer or file related. The sample files I'm using are internal to ulead - nothing i created or downloaded elsewhere. I'm using VS10+ on a 4 month old dell core 2 duo, dual 300g HDs, 4gig RAM, and have not done any MS updates or other updates on the side in the last week or two.

It just happened literally in the last week and I too am in the middle of a huge project due wednesday! I have 3 systems that we use to do these projects and 2 of the 3 are showing the same thing. The 3rd isn't here right now so god help me if the 3rd breaks before wednesday!

if anyone has any suggestions I haven't already tried. I've tried reloading v10+, sample/content files, different computers, different files, rebooting, hmm.. lets see - windows update, removing conflicting software, disabling firewall, closing av software - pretty much anything they tell you to do when you call for support!! My next attempt will be a system restore point from XP.

Please help me! I'm losing my mind and it's only monday!

Shockwave Files Unreadable

Post by msheidow@comcast.net »

If it helps; i don't have any swf editing software or anything else like that. I just have the Ulead suite of programs, adobe acrobat on one, reader on the other, vegas7 has been installed on both for months now, and the rest of the typical software (office, ie7, quickbooks, surething labeling 4, epson scanning/printing, primera printing software). I've been suffering with, I mean using, ulead video studio for about 3 revs and 4 years now.

I hope someone can help!
Thanks!
