Clues extracted from your previous posts suggest that you may be using a USB1 connection between your camcorder and the computer. This is one possible reason can't select larger frame sizes. You have to use USB2 or Firewire to capture the higher bandwidth of larger frame sizes.

Read the top post. No one can diagnose your problem in the absence of detailed information about your computer, capture device, capture format, etc. etc.

Thanks for the reply.

I have USB 2.0

How can I found out my computer's RAM and capture device? I'm sorry, I don't know this stuff.

You may have USB2 on your computer but you may have plugged in the other end to a USB1 port on your camcorder. Most digital camcorders have a firewire port for capturing video and many have a USB1 port for transfering still pix...

Would a USB1 allow video transfer at all? Because I can transfer 320x240 WMV and AVI videos. If that's possible, then that's probably the problem. Does Firewire plug into the USB port on my camcorder? My camcorder has a USB port and an iDV port.

And if I absolutely need this Firewire cable, where can I buy it? Online would be best. What's the exact name of it?

Windows Movie Maker works for me. Can I use that to somehow get DVD quality movies?

Even in Movie Maker in options the compression is set to MJPG and that's the only choice and I can't change it. I need the YUV codec or RGB-24 codec somehow...

And that's under video settings for my computer. Maybe it's my capture card? How can I figure out if this is the problem and what kind of capture card should I get?

Sorry for all the posts but my parents just got a brand new computer. Could I take the capture card out of that computer and switch it with the one in mine. Does that computer even need a capture card?
