Can MF5 import VS10+ Project Files (VSP) without requiring you to render the project into MPEG first?
Does MF5 recognize the chapter points inserted in VS10+?
I'd REALLY like to be able to insert the chapter points in VS10+, where I have more resolution and control over where to insert a chapter point.
.
#1 - MF5 can use a VS10+ project as a video asset
#2 - MF5+ will recognize the chapter points if you render your timeline to a separate file, then use that file in MF5. I don't think it will recognize the chapter points if you import a VSP project file.

Being a newbie, and somewhat of a dummy besides, how do I render my VS10+ timeline into a separage file and import it into MF5?
Since you want to go to DVD with this, I suggest to render to DVD compliant mpeg2. Unless, of course you want to burn a DivX or Xvid DVD.
Make sure you keep the intermediate renders to a minimum, which means to render to mpeg2 from VS10 and use that in MF5Plus, making sure the file is not re-rendered.
So, by "saving the timeline", you mean rendering the project into an MPEG-2 file that can then be imported by MF5?
And the chapter point information is preserved in this process?
Awesome!
Also, by making sure that the MPEG-2 file is not re-rendered, you mean that the MF5 project settings are identical to the ones in VS10+ that created the MPEG-2 file?

Yes

I don't think you always have to make the project settings identical. You can try clicking the "gear" icon and checking the option to "do not convert compliant mpeg files"
