Video Studio 10 plus and dazzle DVC170

Post by bobj »

Has anyone any ideas as to why there could be a problem when using Pinnacle Dazzle DVC170 analogue capture device with 10plus. When clicking capture one of two things happen, either the whole programme crashes or error meesage " Unable to switch to capture made ....... Cannot start the preview graph" is shown

In DV form there are no problems only when using the Pinnacle cature device

Pinnacle cards are notorious for requiring capture by the software that comes with them, which is also a ... ta daa! ... Pinnacle program (usually some version of Pinnacle Studio...) Once captured with that software, you can insert it into Video Studio for editing...

I concur with Ken. I used to use an old Dazzle DV150 adapter and used the DVXCEL utility that came with the device to do the basic capture, and could then load the MPG file into VS.

I'm dating myself here, but I first became familiar (in 1998) with VS when it came bundled a Dazzle parallel port capture device. It was VS ver. 3.0 :!:

No matter how hard I tried, VS could never capture using that device, and I went up to ver. 7.0 with it. I could always capture using the software that came with the Dazzle device though, and as Ken as stated, import that captured video into VS.

It was a finger pointing contest when I called both Dazzle and VS tech support, but the device would never work with VS.

Once I got an ATI AIW card capturing from within VS never been a problem.

Good luck,
