Auto music locks up VS10

Post by joef »

I just purchased, downloaded, and installed VideoSudio 10. If I click the audio tab and then click auto music, I get a pop up that says "Ulead VideoStudio has encountered a problem...." I can do ctrl-alt-delete and Win XP says "program not responding".
I have to close the non-responding VS10 and then restart it. I have tried rebooting WinXP, but no help.
By the way, I also have VS8 and the auto music works fine. Any ideas why VS10 locks up?

Have you installed the Smartsound update? It is available from smartsound.com.

Also, what version of QuickTime are you running? Sometimes v7 can cause problems.

Actually, I find SmartSound to be a very clever and useful program. BUT I lashed out and bought the professional version (SonicFire) and breathed even more deeply and bought some of their discs. They had a sale on a few months ago of some of their 22K discs (as opposed to the higher quality 44K ones), and they were relatively cheap. A local TV station also recently had a sale of some their graphics editing programs, and this included a couple of dozen or so of the better SmartSound discs in pretty good condition. I got them for a song (pun intended!)

I have also downloaded the trial version of the Sony Cinescore program which operates on a similar basis. But it only appears to have 4 or 5 discs available in all so far so I will give that a miss.

You guys were right on!!
First I tried updating SmartSound from their website. Still VS10 locked up. I then uninstalled SmartSound using control panel/add-remove. Then I ran VS10 and when I clicked on auto music the program didn't lock up. So far so good. I didn't get any music but at least it didn't lock up.
I then re-intalled SmartSound and ran VS10. I clicked on auto music and it works perfectly!!

Thanks again for your help.

There's a free drumsolo to add to your collection :)
I need some cymbal crashes too.

I too just purchased Video Studio 10 and still trying to find my way around. For the life of me I cannot get the Auto Music to do ANYTHING! All options are not available, so I can't click on them. What am I missing? I would like to sinc the music to my video but I just can't find where to do it. Can anyone direct me?
Thanks
