application error
I've been doing a pretty good job moving my video from DVD to VideoStudio 10 and then into my mini DV camcorder. I'm a complete novice. All of a sudden, without any other program changes, any of my edited material in the ULead file brings up: The instruction at 0x0b0f7545 referenced memory at 0x0b0f7545. This memory could not be "read" Then I get the choice to terminate or debug. I haven't changed any settings. I did the recommended repair in add/remove programs but it said I had another install running. I was completely out of the program so ????? Anybody have a suggestion? Thanks

First, you don't say which version of VS you are running.
Next, your work flow sounds a bit peculiar. Starting off with video on a DVD means it is mpeg-2 format. Why do you bother up-converting it to the much less compressed (and thus much larger) DV format for transmission to a DV tape. You certainly won't be improving the quality that way. Quality or details that were not there on the mpeg-2 cannot magically be added when up-converted to DV.
Third, your error message. That sort of msg can usually indicate a couple of things. The easiest is to try simply closing the program and reopening it, or even rebooting the computer and trying again. Or it can indicate something in the program has become corrupted and you need to reinstall (which I realise you are trying). Or, more troubling, it can indicate that something is going wrong with one of your RAM sticks. Try to find a program called MemTest or something similar and test your RAM.

In that case, you might be able to solve your problems by saving the file as AVI/DV before editing. It needs to be converted to DV before saving to MiniDV anyway, and I've had MPEGs* get corrupted by editing them. (The corrupted MPEGs usually caused lip-sync errors, but I've had a few crashes too.)
* Just in case you don't know, DVDs are MPEG-2, and Video Studio leaves them as MPEG-2 when you import them.

appilcaition error
Ken: Thanks so much for the speedy answer. I'm not sure which version I'm using. As for the peculiar work flow - it's a long story. But my original program was shot on 1 inch videotape. It was moved onto the DVD by someone who dropped the project due to illhealth. Somehow I got the 1 inch moved onto mini DV's but a pro is working on those so they aren't available to me right now. I'm editing some short promos from the DVD. My webmaster wants the promos on mini DV's so goes the peculiar flow. I've been doing great! No problems at all. Last night I finished editing a short clip, powered off and today I get this message. I did reboot, try to reinstall - dumb question: If I completely uninstall the ULead program will I lose my library? Thanks - I'll try to get the RAM check you suggested.

Great idea DVDDoug. I like doing anything that will avoid problems. Incidentally, I've been doing some experimenting. if I find the file in "Program Files" and click to open, the ULead program opens and plays the file. I only get the message that "This memory can't be read" when I'm already in VS10 and call up the file from there.

Same Application Error
I have been experiencing the same error message as doggietalk. "The instruction at 0x0a4e7545 referenced memory at 0x0a4e7545. The memory could not be read. ok to terminate cancel to debug." Either response gets the same result, the program exits. I went to the downloads, made sure I had the latest and greatest updates for VS 10 plus, rebooted, ran a memory maximizer and memory defragger. I have 1GB memory, 100 GB hard disk with less than 2/3 used. I was editing a VSP file which contained an AVI file which I would open from inside VS10. Still getting the application error. I saw the posts and tried double clicking on the VSP file and was able to move the Jog Slider around and play various segments of the 30 minute video with no application error. Which I could not do before. This is all well and good but a pain to use this way, does anyone know the real issue here?
Thanks for your kind attention!

Hi krsopp: Glad to know I'm not the only one. I did get an answer from Ulead. Sad to say I've done most of it without success. Here is their answser:
The first step in troubleshooting this issue is to reinstall the software. This is to make sure that there are no corrupt files in your program files. Please logon as Administrator and try the following suggestions to fix:
1)Clean up temp files from\Start menu\Programs\Accessories\System Tools\Disk Cleanup.
2)Uninstall UVS 10 from control panel Add/Remove programs
3)Please del the folder "Ulead Ulead VideoStudio 10" folder in C:\program files\ulead system
4)Install UVS 10 and the content installer again
5)Run the Ulead VideoStudio 10 Service Pack 1 (Release Date: 2007/01/15) that you can download from our website;
http://www.ulead.com/tech/vs/vs_ftp.htm
6)Make sure you have the latest WinXP compliant driver for your VGA card, sound controller and capture device which you can download from the internet.
Please avoid the unnecessary conflict, temporarily turn off all applications includes anti virus, norton utilities, or the other memory resident program and the Internet connection etc. before you run VideoStudio 10.
Please let me know if you are successful. Thanks!

Thank You
Hi there doggietalk: Thanks for your reply and for sharing ULEADS suggestions. Unfortunately I won't have much time this week to do all of the prescribed fixes. Do you suppose that the turning off of the anti-virus etc is something they want done every time we run VS?
I will keep you posted on my progress and hopeful success.

I haven't had any trouble until this weekend. I was getting this error in Photo Express & figured it had to do with updating Photo Impact from 10 to 12 which I just purchased recently. I searched the boards and finally got Photo Express to stop with the error message everytime I opened it. Low & behold, I tried to open Video Studio 10plus, and I'm getting the same error--it asks me if I want to debug but that doesn't help as the program just crashes. Also, my .ufo files are now messed up in Windows Explorer (that's a question in the PI section of the forum). The only other thing I can remember doing differently in the last week since this error showed up was updating my Windows Explorer. Windows did some kind of update automatically. Could this have affected our ULEAD products?

Read this. It was a Windows XP problem. I added my ULEAD program & it worked!
