So far I don't have any idea what it is you are asking 
To start with, what is the properties of your MOV file, it is a container just like AVI, and can use several different codecs. I suspect it uses the H.264 codec. If that is true, then you are best to convert it to DV or MPEG-2 using a free program like SUPER.
