I just started using the trial version of Movie Factory this weekend and I ordered the boxed version of it last night. I recorded some movies from my DVR to my DVD recorder and then ripped them to the hard drive. I notice that Movie Factory will edit mpg files, but it won't open VOB files for editing.
Do I have to get VideoReDo or a similar program to turn them into mpg's before I can author DVDs? Or is there some way to directly open and edit VOBs with Movie Factory?
The first movie I authored had 2 chapters, but my DVD clicker kept selecting the 2nd half of the movie to play. Do I have to or should I stitch the various chapters of a movie together before burning it?
Thanks in advance.

In MF you can import DVD files (VOB). MF will break the VOB files into mpg chapters, saving each in your MovieFactory\Working\Import DVD folder.
Just be aware, if the original DVD was done using Dolby sound (AC3), you will probably not get the audio with it unless you have either the AC3 plugin, or have the full version of MF3 Disc Creator.

Movie Factory 3
Thanks, T_Sheen. I thought I downloaded the MF Disc Creator trial version from Ulead (I have since ordered the boxed version of MF Disc Creator). Could it be something as simple as accidentally downloading the wrong version? Whenever I try to open VOB files with MF 3, I get that error message. I can create DVDs from mpgs using MF 3, but I have to first convert them with VideoReDo. Am I doing something wrong when I try to import them? You can't import VOBs with AC-3 sound. Only supported with MF 3 Disc Creator.
