Out of Sync.

Post by bmaule »

Have MPEG file that I am using Movie Factory to convert to DVD files but lately the DVD files are always out of sync. I have used Ulead 2 & 3 to do this for the past 4 years. Not sure what has happening. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You have a corrupt MPEG. That's what makes it go out of sync when the MPEG gets re-rendered or re-multiplexed. A common problem with MPEGs... See my signature/tagline below? :P

At this point, it's hard to tell what caused the corruption. Where did the MPEG come from? Did you edit it? Is it possible to re-capture the video? Do you have the hardware to re-capture in AVI/DV, rather than MPEG?

Search the forum for "sync" or "OOS" and you'll find lots of suggestions and discussion.

I ask for your indulgence but I am not sure that the MPEG is corrupted. Womble was used to edit it and it plays perfectly in Womble but when Ulead is used to convert the MPEG2 to DVD files it goes out of sync. Not sure if this clarifies the problem any. Thanks.

People indulged you already by suggesting a fix that you had already covered. Do you want us to ask our way through the steps you have already taken until we find one you didn't?

You might find that people will get increasingly less inclined to offer any help with that attitude of yours.

Either you provide us with all the pertaining details or the help on offer may peeter out shortly.

Open it with Womble and look for the Icon in the toolbar that resembles a spanner. Now look for MPEG GOP fixer. After running it through that, try opening it again with MovieFactory.

That is a bit strange, but the file was probably corrupted before you opened it with Womble. Is it possible for you to re-capture it?

The idea would be to repair the file before the sync problems show-up... when the file seems OK.

VideoReDo has a similar repair tool, and the free trial might be worth a try if the Womble repair doesn't work. :? Or, maybe it's not "similar"...

I actually have a list of several "MPEG repair" tools. Either they didn't work for me, or I solved my problems before I had a chance to fully triy them out. (At least one was too expensive to even consider.) I'll post that list later... I'm at work now.

When I was editing MPEGs with Ulead, I got sync problems fairly frequently. I also had occasional unexplained crashes. Since I've been doing my MPEG editing with Womble (over a year now) I haven't had any problems making DVDs with Ulead software. So, I haven't had a chance to to try the Womble repair tool.

You might also try forcing Womble to re-code it for you by slightly reducing the bitrate. That might clean-up whatever's wrong with the file.

Normally, Womble will "smart render", recoding only where necessary (i.e. during transitions). If the frames with "bad data" aren't touched by Womble, they could remain corrupted.

Why is Heinz-Oz so pompous. Every reply I have read from this guy, he has some obnoxious comment to make. I believe that forums such as these are there to help people with varying degrees of knowledge and computer sophistication. If you want to show your 'superior' knowledge of the software then please do so without the slide remarks and insulting tones.

If you would make a weak attempt of reading all my posts, you might find that I only react so pompously to recalcitrants like yourself. You give away nothing but expect everything in return. Someone is silly enough to try to guess what your problem might be, just to be told that that cannot be the problem because you did that already, great.

There were 5 replies to my request for help. Yours was the only one that was insulting, maybe you should take a moment to review your comments in the context of all others. This is a forum to dicuss problems and offer solutions not to offer disphraging remarks. My advice to you would be that in the future, if you find a request to be 'silly' using your terms, then maybe you should choose not to answer it rather than attempt to insult the participant in what is often in time of dire need for help. Take a look at the replies from other participants in this forum, you will learn a thing or two about civility in cyberspace.
