I have recorded on 8cm dvd with sony camcorder #205. Can play dvd on home dvd player and with help on my dell computer. I can't edit or save to my computer or copy to a 12 cm disk. Can anyone tell me how I should do this or which s/w pgms to buy?

Did your camera come with software? I would have expected it to come with software to copy the video from your DVD and make an MPEG-2 movie from it.

Have you tried importing it with Movie Factory?

Movie Factory or Video Studio may be all you need. Video Studio is the best all-round choice/value for most people. It has more editing features. Movie Factory has more DVD authoring features. You can download the trial programs to see which one you prefer.

Now, the Ulead programs do sometimes have trouble importing DVDs, and sometimes there are problems editing MPEGs. ...Download the trial programs, and see how they work for you.

In the worst case, you may need to use 3 different programs. One to Import (transfer or "capture") the video to your hard drive, one to edit, and one to author and burn DVDs. Actaully, it's not unusual for me to use more than 3 different programs on a project, especially when you throw-in extra stuff like audio editing and creation of the DVD label and packaging artwork!

January, your Sony DCR-DVD205 comes with Nero Express ("Nero Express 6 software is included for easy duplication and conversion from 3-inch media to 5 1/4-inch media")

I have downloaded the Nero s/w. When I try to read the dvd, it tells me "can't load plug-in manager". Sony can't help me. I have downloaded a trial version of windvd and I can view the dvd but nothing else, can't edit or dave to hard drive.
