create disc not reading dvd-r

Post by Rickbcnu »

Video studio in the create disc will not read a blank disc. I get the message that says: The Disc is not empty or there is no disc in the device. Insert a blank disc then try again. I have put in over 10 new discs and then it would work, then I would put in one of the ones that was refused eailer and it will work then the same message again . Any reason why it would work one time and not the other. I have upgraded the firmware update in my plextor px760a dvd-r with no help. Dvd-r discs are Ridata and I was told by plextor they were compatable. If I copy a dvd from one I made earlier it will work no problem, only when I am rendering to the dvd burner in create disc?

Ridata are not the best make of discs and in fact some of their budeget packs of 50 can hold a great variation in quality, which is how they bring the price right down.

Treat yourself to some quality discs, Taiyo Yuden would be a good start.

Have you got any "packet writing" software running on your machine (drag-and-drop to disc -- like InCD) :?: Sometimes uninstalling that type of software (or temproarily disabling it) can clear up drive issues...
