Failed to encode the video 2000:1:1

Post by geoffc »

After several years i have a requirement to use Video Studio 6 that came with my machine. Everything seems to work fine until I go to make the final video, I've tried both DVD an MPEG file. The P4 PC crunches away for a long time then gives the error"Failed to encode the video 2000:1:1"
I am doing a 110 minute video and got 15 G of disk space left. I thought 15 G would be lots but is that maybe what is causing the error?

Thanks for your time

Geoff,
Are you using the Recommended Procedure? (Top post). Getting the burn properties identical to the video file is essential. 15 GB (defragged) is marginal but should work...

I checked the clips that I am putting together and they are Field B and when I check the DVD or Mpeg output it shows Field A. Does that make any difference and if so how do I fix it.

Thanks again

I assume that the clips you are putting together came from an analogue source, which is why they are Field Order B. Field Order A is for files captured from a digital video camera.

In producing your final file for disc production, you need to set the properties to Field Order B, as the final file must have the same basic properties as the input files.

My problem is that I have never used (or even seen) VS 6, so I can't tell you where to go to change the properties. But there should be a control somewhere labelled something like "Make Movie Manager" (which is in both VS 7 and 8) or "Disc Template Manager" (used in Movie Factory). In that, you should be able to find a tab which includes a Field Order window, where you can change between A, B or Frame Based.

Good luck.

Geoff,
I also haven't used VS6.
(1) You probably set the project properties with the menu File/Project Properties. Set them to match the properties of your captured videos.
(2) You probably set video properties after selecting "SHARE" and Create Video File. Be sure to look for a Custom button to set properties that match Project properties.
(3) Burn properties have to be set in the Burn module (Share/Create Disk) to exactly match video file properties.

If you ever get a messagebox "Converting Videos, This will take a long time..." just cancel the operation and try again to set your properties correctly.

Thanks for the help guys. I changed it to the same field and size and it compiled way faster and best of all it worked. I haven't tried burning a DVD yet only made the mpeg file.
