best image scan dpi, for dvd use ??

Good morning All from Queensland Australia
I wish to include some scanned photos in a DVD I'm doing of Alaska. I have many vhs tapes of the same trip which I can covert with reasonably results.
So its just the most suitable scan resolution for stills I need to know ??

Scan resolution is not important with video, the frame size is. I would scan to around 1200 x 900 pixel (4:3 aspect ratio) in bitmap format.

Thanks Heinz, I'm just reinstalling my scanner program (epsom1250/1650)
and have seen the pixel setting option, so will use your suggested settings
