Which version of MF allows more than 10 audio tracks?

Post by Sandcassle »

Hello all,

I am using Movie Factory 4 SE, which I understand is the demo version.
I need to upgrade to a system which allows more than 10 audio tracks. Additionally, the audio tracks on this program are very unstable. They randomly change their settings on their own without any input from me.

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Do you want to mix-down 10 tracks to one stereo track, or do you want 10 different languages? I'm not sure if Ulead can help you in either case.

DVD Workshop can make a DVD with 8 different language tracks.

I'm not sure how many tracks Video Studio can mix-down, but I doubt that it can handle 10 tracks. But, if you have 10 tracks to mix-down you probably already have audio editing/mixing software that can do it...

If you are using MP3 or another compressed format, try converting the files to WAV before bringing them into Movie Factory. Otherwise, you can download the current trial version to see if the problems have been fixed. (Your 'SE' version will have different limitations from the trial version.)

Do you want to create ONE audio track from TEN original audio tracks?
If so try the FREE audio editor Audacity

If you want 10 separate audio tracks

One of the technical specifications of DVD states that every disc must use at least one PCM or Dolby Digital soundtrack to ensure the medium¡¦s high quality throughout all its publications. The DVD PCM sound format allows to have up to eight different channels of sound on a disc and is pretty much identical with the format used on your audio CDs, even though DVD supports much more detailed audio information than audio CDs do.

The only Ulead program able to offer multiple audio tracks is DVD Workshop 2.

Do you mean you want to add 10 (or more) audio tracks that will run consecutively for the duration of your Title (i.e. using the Add Audio function, they do not get combined into ONE audio track, they just run consecutively during your Video Title) :?:

And does "randomly change their settings" mean they simply switch to the next audio track in the list :?:

George

Thanks for your replies.

George W, exactly.

Yes, want to add 10 (or more) audio tracks that will run consecutively for the duration of the Title by using the Add Audio function.

Here's what I mean when I say "randomly changes settings":

I'll have a combination of songs which have been shortened and songs scheduled to play full length. The songs scheduled to play full length will somtimes play shortened. At other times, they will correctly play full length.

I'm ready to purchase a full blown video editing software program that will accomplish what I'm trying to do.

Thanks for your help!

Unfortunately, 10 is the CURRENT limit of MF5. Maybe future versions will allow more

That is strange -- I don't know what could be causing that. What are the properties of all the audio tracks :?: Are they the same, or do the properties change :?:

Have you looked at VideoStudio -- gives you more "Editing" options...

If it is in the video editing stage and not the dvd authoring stage that you want these 10 audio tracks, then I'd agree with George, use a proper video editor, like VS, adobe premiere etc
