help, burn process aborting automatically after 5 1/2 hours

Post by josurr »

Hi,

i am trying to create a NTSC DVD from some HD Lost episodes i have (~350MB/file, ~42 mins in each file, 3 files per DVD, encoded with DivX). i go through and import the files into DVDWS2, but when i go to create/burn the image, all goes well until it gets to about 5 1/2 into the transcoding/creation then the program automatically aborts the process with no error message but the general error that the process was aborted.

i am using Long Play (120 min/disc), Dolby Digital 2.0, 2 pass encode, constant bit-rate of 2500kbps.

im not burning directly to disc first (i dont like creating coasters), so i am burning to an .iso file first.

any ideas?

 DivX !

DivX and Xvid cause lots of trouble!!!! The more compressed the format, the more trouble... (There are even sometimes problems with MPEG-2.)

Check the DivX web sites for DivX-specific software. You can try SVCD 2 DVD (~ $40.00 USD).

Or, you can try using SUPER (FREE!!!) to convert your file to MPEG-2 before importing it into Workshop.

Maybe... Sometimes it will say "Operation aborted, generating logfile." But, I've never actually found the log file, and I'll bet the information is just as cryptic as the error messages... with some "secret" error code!

Workshop probably doesn't know what's gone wrong. The codec has probably sent it some bad data, and Workshop just gets totally confused.

DVDDoug,

thanks for the idea of converting the files to MPEG-2 with SUPER first, that fixed it. i was able to create an .iso of 3 of the files at 4000 kbps, DD 2.0 @ 256kbps, 70 quality. it totals 3.8 GB and looks freaking sweet, no degradation in quality that is noticeable to me...

SUPER is a freaking sweet program...

thanks again
