Midi to Wave converter to be used with VS 10 Plus

Post by jblank37 »

Please excuse me if this is the wrong place for this post. I am wanting to use some midi files that I have along with VS 10 Plus. I have Googled for a free Midi to Wave converter. I have not been able to find one. I will spend the approx. $30.00 US dollars for one if someone will point me in the direction of a good one. Thanks for any help on this.

If you have any "analog" audio recording software, you should be able to record the MIDI sounds as they are played on your computer.

This FAQ tells you how to do it with GoldWave (~$50 USD), but any recording software should work the same.

...This might not work as well as direct digital conversion

I was going to suggest that if you have the Nero suite, it contains an excellent audio editor (Wave Edit). However, I have just looked at it and it will not handle MIDI files either, strangely enough. I don't think SUPER will convert it either... (I have checked it but cannot immediately find any reference to MIDI...)

Another possibility would be to try the freeware Audacity program, but again you would need to check whether it can handle MIDI files.

Thanks Ken and Doug, I will do some more checking. I had looked at Audacity. I did not see anywhere at first on Midi files. I checked again and I believe it reads that it WILL NOT do Midi files. Anyway, I thank both of you.

John,

I use Nero Media Player for Midi to Wav conversions. It does an excellent job. This came with Nero Burning-Rom 5 which was bundled with my Pioneer A06 burner.

Do a Google for it.

Alternatively.......
You can in fact use Audacity or Messr (Both FREE) by playing the midi files and at the same time recording the sound with one of the above two programs.
