Load from stream error

Post by junglekitty »

Hi there,
I've read a few posts on this subject and have tried to uninstall using advice on this forum but I'm using Ulead VideoStudio 7.0 which is a much earlier version than most of the users here. The files showing up as load from stream error are not actually deleted from my hardrive and haven't been moved so I'm not sure why I'm getting the message in the first place. I've tried removing program and all associated folders including temp folders before reinstalling but was wondering if I've missed something... any help would be appreciated.

frustrated!

I thought I used to have the detailed instructions for a clean uninstall/reinstall of VS7 but cannot find it. The following is for VS8, but I cannot recall if the detailed files mentioned are also used in VS7:

1) Clean up C:\Windows\temp directory. Uninstall anything to do with VS 7/8. Clean up all files in C:\Documents and Settings\[UserName]\Local Settings\Temp folder. Uninstall VideoStudio 8 from control panel Add/Remove programs.

2) Delete folder {4F1DA6BF-3614-48A1-9970-9E90F646789E} in C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information (Make sure you have set "Show hidden files and folders" in the folder option in Windows)

3) Delete the folder "Ulead VideoStudio 8.0" folder in C:\program files\ulead system

4) Run Regedit from Start/Run in Windows task bar

5) Delete folder {4F1DA6BF-3614-48A1-9970-9E90F646789E} in
KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\

6) Then reinstall the program and any patches.

hi - thank you, they were the instructions I followed but the file name: {4F1DA6BF-3614-48A1-9970-9E90F646789E} does not appear anywhere. Would the V7 version have a different file name?

Yes, that's what I feared. Sorry.

I guess the only alternative would be to do an entire registry search for all references to Video Studio, erasing each as you find them. It is relatively easy to do, though I admit not for the faint-hearted if you get mesmerised by the monotony of it all and accidentally press DEL insted of 'next' on the wrong entry!!!

Fixing Load from Stream Error Video Studio 7 SE

Post by junglekitty »

Thanks a million - the tedioius method actually worked!!!
What I did:

1/ followed you previous instructions of deleting all files (not folders) in c/local settings/temp and also c/windows/temp

2/ Deleted the folder (key) {757AD3D4-036B-42FA-B0A4-96BD6F4605A0} from application data

3/ I ran a search on my computer on my c drive with any file with the words "video studio" in it. Located all these files, deleted them.

4/ re-booted my computer and then re-installed.

Might have been a bit of over kill but I wanted to be thorough.

Thanks again for the advice. Hope this helps others in the future.

this one can be a right b*mmer!

when i had VS7 i had to fully reinstall windows to get rid of the problem as Ulead at time didnt know how to fix it.

I am now on VS10+ got the same message come up last night.

I am suprised Ulead hasnt fixed this problem with their software or why it is allowed to happen in the first place.

I have a theory why it happens though.

If you are in the library under video and you delete quite a few thumbnails in one go this causes the product to freeze. on restarting you then get the dreaded load from stream error. i now remember doing the same thing with vs7.

However in their favour (ulead) i have to say that if you remove VS10+ and reinstal it does get rid of the error completely instead of fiddling about as discussed here with the registry editor.
