making a colour transparent
i'm wanting to make the black in my video transparent, so the background image comes out. is there a way to do this? i've given the mask and chrome key options a go, but they seem to make the whole overlay transparent. is there a way to simply make the colour black transparent?

I haven't tried this with VS10+ as yet but once did it using MediaStudio a couple of years ago and according to to the VS10+ manual the method is much the same.
You need to select the colour (in your case black) which you want to make transparent using what I call the "eyedropper". You can then also adjust the "similarity slider" to include other colours similar to the one you chose which will also will be rendered transparent but in your case you don't need to worry about that.
Refer to page 89 of the VS10+ user guide.
