Cannot install upgrade

Post by gerald28 »

Hello All,

I am a VS9 user. Recently I had to on a new laptop (old one is gone), when I did it said the install was an upgrade and could not install without some existing program. I don't have the original upgraded app (OEM app that came with my camera), so I cannot install it. It got thrown away in a move.

I have contacted Ulead Customer Service, but I was hoping to work on a project this weekend. Does anyone know a work around for this, so I can get my app installed?

Thanks
Gerald

So your OEM version came with a camera? If so was it an SE version? If not did you register it with Ulead? If you did register it and the version that you upgraded from, then you should be able to login to Ulead's website and retrieve your serial numbers. However I think that VS10 is the first version that only requires the serial number of the version you are upgrading from. So in light of that, you would still need the install CD of the previous version.

Next possible option would also be based on if you have the serial number to your VS9. You could purchase the current version VS10+ as an upgrade. Other then that I'm afraid that you can chalk this up to a learning experience.

My first version of Ulead was VS5, which was bundled with an ATI-AIW card. I still have the disc, and held on to it, because I upgraded to VS8, and it required the previous version to either be installed, or at least be able to see it in the CD tray. With all my software I keep a small text file containing the serial number and any other information I think is pertinent. I have also created a master file with numerous program serial numbers, passwords to websites, etc., which I have numerous copies/versions, (I always back it up with other docs). One thing that is very important, if you used a program to obtain an upgrade (discount) then as long as you think that you may use that upgraded program, you need to maintain that previous version. I know that probably does not help now, but hopefully for future purchases..
