Am new to this program but have been computing since 1966. What I have found here, and please correct me if I'm wrong:

I bought a new dvd burner
I bought a TV/Video board to capture stuff.

My DVD came with Ulead's Movie Factory ver 4.0 SE. SE means I did not get the entire program so I can't do the updates (that forumites seem to agree that I need)

So Ulead would like me to purchase the entire program or upgrade to 5.0 to make it all work when I have not be able to get 4.0 SE to work thus far.

I can't see putting out additional funds to upgrade when this one won't work. Is there not a demo that can be tried before purchase? Is there any help available for those of us who have ver SE that was bundled with our burners?

Seems to be much good info here for those having full programs. KOKO.

Hello Chuck and welcome to the forum.

Many patches do work with SE versions, others don't. You can get the trial (TBYB) version of MF 5+ to see if that works. If you decide to get MF5 after, take the MF5+ version because it is a more rounded product.

I downloaded ver 5 yesterday and it seems to be working properly. Must be something wrong with my ver 4se. Burned two projects yesterday with no problems. May hang with this program for a while instead of looking elsewhere. Not many default templates to choose from but afterall it is a demo copy.

Saw something unusual yesterday. The purchase is cheaper if you buy the CD and manual and have them ship it to you than it is to purchase a download??? Site says it is a special deal. Oh well.. Never look a gift horse in the mouth..lol

Just uninstalled all and deleted stray folders. Reinstalled ver 4se and 5 Now 4 is working as it is supposed to. Thanks to oz fot the help.

MF5 has newer Ulead files that are shared by their programs (Program Files\Common Files\), so you actually updated part of MF4 by installing MF5.
