new computer and video studio 10

Post by petrea »

Computer info:
microsoft windows xp professional
version 2002, service pack 2
Intel(R)Core(TM)2CPU
66000@240 GHz
240GHzm 2.00 GB RAM
File system Ntfs

Problem - tried to reload video studio 10 - missing video effects & having problems with editing video.
Should I uninstall & reinstall? Is there anything special because of dual core?
Thanks
Pete

There is of course a VS update patch for dual core computers...

But you also didn't tell us which version of VS10 you are using -- is it a full boxed version with CDs, or a download version or a download update version?

If it is a download version, have you loaded the two main files which contain respectively the main program and extra content, like possibly the missing video effects?

I have vs 10 plus - its an update but have ordered the boxed version so have the disc & content disc.
I installed but did not apply the patch - should I uninstall first? or apply the patch now?
Thanks

This is a new computer - so I just loaded vs10 plus - do I have to reload version 9 first?

You don't have to reinstall VS9. When you install the VS10 upgrade, it will ask for the serial number of VS9.

Once installed, you install the update patch separately -- it is not contained in the VS10 program file you used, no matter how recently you bought it.

Yes, it's on http://www.ulead.com/tech/vs/vs_ftp.htm and its the bottom one: Service Pack 1 which, as you will see, contains optimization for Core 2 Duo processors...

OK -- which precise 'video effects' are you missing? If you have loaded the main program file and the extra content file (and possibly the third Bonus Features file with the freebies in it -- Cool 3D and WinDVD 7), then everything should have been loaded.

The only catch with the extra content file is that it only contains one folder that is automatically loaded with an .exe file of its own. The other folders have to be manually loaded into their relevant VS sub-folders manually, and I am afraid this contains all the additonal stock Ulead video clips, images, masks etc.

missing files

Post by petrea »

I am missing the video filters - eg anti-shake, brightness, etc.
I received two discs - upgrade & extra content- I loaded cool 3/intervideo, etc.??? no video filters on menu.
Thanks
