I would like to know if it possible to record (via the DVin connector) a 16/9 video ( ".avi" file stored on my PC ) by using a relatively old 4/3 camcorder: it has a DVin input, but was designed as a 4/3 camcorder.

Interesting thought.
Transferring the Dv-Avi file from the pc to the camera requires no re-coding.
As its just a data transfer I would think it would work.
I have never tried this procedure.
Give it a go, you have nothing to loose, you can always use the tape again.
You will have to capture the data back to VS to prove it worked.
