Error at Ulead startup

Post by Kempsis »

I have been using Ulead VideoStudio 8 for over a year now. Currently I am having to reinstall it on an existing computer and am now getting the following error message: "Load From Stream Error". When I click on the OK button, blank (or white) thumbnails it get inserted to the left of the video screen each time. Additionally, each time I click on the OK button, the error message does not leave. I have to End Task to get out of the program.

I have removed all programs associated with Ulead and reinstalled several times.

Any ideas or a direction to help me would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Have you done a full Registry 'search and destroy' mission to get rid of every reference to to VS8? (Ulead programs tend to leave a lot of rubbish when uninstalled.) And it sounds as though, from your mention of white thumbnail icons, that the installation is picking up some remnants of past projects or video or image files which were not properly uninstalled.

If you are not confident about dong a search a destroy mission in the registry, have you at least followed the recommended procedure for uninstalling VS8:

1) Clean up C:\Windows\temp directory. Uninstall anything to do with VS 8. Clean up all files in C:\Documents and Settings\[UserName]\Local Settings\Temp folder. Uninstall VideoStudio 8 from control panel Add/Remove programs.

2) Delete folder {4F1DA6BF-3614-48A1-9970-9E90F646789E} in C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information (Make sure you have set "Show hidden files and folders" in folder options in Windows)

3) Delete the folder "Ulead VideoStudio 8.0" folder in C:\program files\ulead system

4) Run Regedit from Start/Run in Windows task bar

5) Delete folder {4F1DA6BF-3614-48A1-9970-9E90F646789E} in
KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\

6) Then reinstall VS8 and any patches.
