still frame is a different size

Post by Banton »

Hi, I'm using MSP 7, I like to save image to image file (from the source window) the last frame of a clip, then put the saved image (saved as JPEG file interchange format) to the end of the clip on the timeline and extend it as long as I need to create a freeze frame. I find the freeze frame function a bit to hit and miss in regards to a shaky image when clip is played on a TV. The saved image is the same width and height in pixels as the video clip, but the saved image is always elongated-squashed together at the sides and this only shows up after I've created a video file,
my project settings are- Avi files,pal, 24 bits 720 *576 4:3 25 fps
field order A
anbody got any advice on this

Resize the JPEG to 768x576, Not sure exactly why but it does work!

Another option is, if you have VSx use VS to do the stills stuff for you. MSP has a great interface for stills, but, you have to manually adjust EACH still to work correctly, whereas, VS can do it automajically. (why would a more expensive product be harder to use on this issue??)

Not at my video editing machine right now but.... in MSP8 there is an option to right click the image on the timeline and select 'Media Source Options' where you have various options like stretch, keep original size etc. I would think MSP7 has the same or similar options.

I kind of bumped heads with this one as well, but, found, if you send the images to the storyboard first, then send them to the timeline from there, the aspect ratio is fine. You may have to edit the path, though, if it is not to your liking.

I was using VS10 to do my stills, but, actually LIKE the way MSP 8 handles it, as you have a LOT more control, espeacialy if you use cues. Syncing to music was never more fun.. :)
