Fixing 'Bleached' / Over Exposed Footage.

Post by michaeld121 »

I've got some material that I shot with my Sony DCR-TRV265. I think I shot it with the 'Back Light' setting on as anything that is slightly white (esp anything with sunshine on it) shows as a patch of brilliant, almost dazzling white - almost ruining parts of the material.

I've had a play with the Auto Level & Auto Exposure features, but while the Auto Exposure helps slightly, it doesn't solve the problem. I've also tried the Colour Correction settings (ie Hue, Contrast, Brightness etc) and they also make little difference.

Can anyone suggest a way of sorting this problem out?

Thanks,

Michael

I'm afraid, problems like that cannot be fixed, only avoided in the first place. The burned out patches don't have any detail in them, hence, nothing to revert back to.

Many thanks for the swift response. I hadn't realised that there wasn't actually anything in the "white'd" out areas to work with.

I guess I'll just have to put it down to a lessen learnt.

Regards,

Michael
