Despite knowing better from previous bad experience with ULead products I've just tried to install the VideoStudio 7 SE BASIC that comes with a FireWire Video Kit.
Well, as usual with ULead something went wrong during the installation - from what I apparently managed to recover.
When I afterwards try to run the application it said it couldn't work because it requires a different screen size from the 800x600 that all my other applications gladly uses.
Too bad it didn't tell that during the installation.
Too bad the installation didn't check my screen size and offer me the chance to cancel the installation.
Since the VideoStudio 7 SE BASIC won't work with my screen size the next step was to try to uninstall and forget all about the VideoStudio 7 SE BASIC. But here it again turned out, that the VideoStudio 7 SE BASIC even was refusing to get uninstalled again:
Too bad you just came here to bad mouth something you so obviously don't understand at all. To bad there will be some tooting the same horn I'm sure but to bad that none of us really care about this.
Sorry, forgot to give you the answer to your question. In the old days it was Format c: but, if you were on Win XP, you could try to restore to a date prior to the installation of VS.
the only guaranteed way to uninstall a program without it leaving any traces of itself on your pc is, as Heinz suggested, to revert the pc to a previous state, which existed prior to the installation of the program. I use a disk imaging program (Norton Ghost) for that purpose sometimes.
Otherwise, even when you uninstall, some files and registry entries may remain.
In your case, of course, you can't even run the Ulead uninstaller, since the install wasn't properly completed for some reason.
I would suggest you use something like Toni Arts "Easy Cleaner" (freeware) If VS 7 SE Basic doesn't appear in it's list of programs in it's "Add/Remove" list, then just delete the Ulead folders and then run the Easy Cleaner registry checks. You can then delete all the resulting files. Easy Cleaner works best on Win2000, incidentally.
I also use Easy Cleaner in conjunction with Registry Repair Pro, also freeware though it has a nag box that keeps trying to get you to buy the full version.
When I've run the latter on other peoples pc's, I've found on average 300+ registry errors, resulting from poor installs/uninstalls and presumably just sloppy software programming.
Having cleaned everything up, I then run one further utility - NT Regopt, another freeware program. It will defrag the registry. Running all of the above generally results in a noticeable speed up in performance.
One question remains, however. Why are you using 800x600? If, like me, you are getting far-sighted and beginning to need reading glasses, it's better to use a higher resolution and large fonts.
And it's not really Ulead's fault that there was nothing about screen resolution to warn you. It was the fault of the hardware manufacturer which probably only shipped a CD (of VS7 SE Basic -- sheesh! how low can you go?) with their product. (I at least got a full version of VS8 -- not even SE -- with my firewire card, though I already had VS10+ installed.)
I also just happen to have my original box of VS7 (squirrel that I am), and on it, it clearly states "Windows-compatible display with at least 1024x768 resolution"...
