newbie help with jpeg menu

hi sorry if this seems simple but i cant find an answer anywhere - im authoring 16:9 video but the jpeg background im using is being cut with black bars down the side...is there anyway of "stretching" it so it fits a widescreen menu? thanks x

:? There might be a way to do it with your existing image... Maybe somebody else can tell you how.

Do you have photo editing software? (Photo Impact, Photo Studio, Paint Shop, etc?) I use my photo editing software to crop/resize the image first.

Usually, I have the opposite situation. I want to make black bars or a "frame" around the image so I can keep the whole picture, and fill the screen without distorting the picture. I have several 3x4 solid-color rectangle JPEGs. I paste the image on top of this backgroud. The background looks like a frame, and the original image keeps it's proprotions.

And remember, your TV has overscan. The edges of the picture will be chopped-off, so keep it within the safe area it that's important. (Another to use a "frame".)

yes i have photoshop but what size should I make it?

Hi

If you are in Pal country 16:9 is 1024 x 576 minimum.
