Scanned images look grainy
I am using Ulead Video Studio 9. When I insert a photo for the background menu, it looks very grainy. The photo is of a girls soccer team. The eyes somewhat disappear in some of the girls, and others look fuzzy. The photo looks great in my photo editing software, but something happens when I bring it to Ulead. Is there a sizing issue that I need to know about?

How would we know? You tell us nothing except that they look grainy. What size are the scans? Format?
Do you have a TV out on your PC? Display that desktop of your PC on the the TV, what do you see? The same quality? Surely not. High resolution images are not suitable for TV and will be resized by the software to fit your video standard frame size. How is an image downsized? By discarding pixels from your image, there is no other way. If you discard something, chances are something is missing somewhere along the lines, don't you agree?
The idea is to scan images close to the pixel size of your TV, not under but a bit over doesn't matter so much, as long as the aspect ratio is correct.
