I'm trying to burn a DVD made up of several seprate MPEG files that need to run in sequence. I have setup a menu and have thumnails for each file. When I preview the layout in MovieFactory, the navigation seems to work as expected. But when I burn the disk and play in a set-top unit (have 2 and both are the same) the navigation is wrong. I can not advance to the next track (in this case, file). If I select a certain track to play, it will play but NOT continue to the next. I read somewhere here to set a dummy track ID at the end of each file, but now I get a whole sub-menu thing, and only the first file will play no matter what track I chose from the menu. I also noticed that each file says 'Track 1" in the DVD display window. Do I have some issue with 'tracks' vs. 'titles'?
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Bill

Hi Bill, sorry about the delay with any responses,
You might have a look at the From Camcorder to DVD tutorial. The part for authoring a DVD can be read here:

Ron,
Thanks for tip...
I did have a look at the 'Chapters' segment and I can clearly see what I have tried to do, but don't understand why it won't work. I have checked 'play thru to next clip' for the end action, but I can't jump to the next clip by hitting 'skip'. I see Steve J's flow arrows, but I don't see any way I can get the disk to jump from one 'video' to the next (like what happens at the bottom with chapters) Is out of the scope of this software? It seems like it would be simple operation. And like I said earlier, it tests OK inside MF5plus just fine.

My next thought is that maybe there is a compatibility issue with your DVD player and the media you're burning to. Do you have another brand of DVD that you could try burning to? Also what speed are you burning? We recommend to burn at no higher then 4x.
Believe it or not it seems that the more expensive DVD players are the most finicky on what they will play. The cheap $30 players will play about anything.

I just completed yet another burn, and have the same results. I have checked these discs on several players (that was actually the very first thing I tested) 3 set top boxes and four computers all behave the same. The computer player display shows that I am playing one of 16 different Titles, all showing only one Chapter, and, as a result, I can not jump from one Title to the next with the 'skip' function. I'm now thinking this is an issue with the DVD spec., and unless I can somehow take my 16 Titles(files) and consolidate them into one single file, I not going to get anywhere.
I have an important ongoing project that requires that I assemble various pre-edited video segments into one continous production that can be played top-to-bottom or anywhere in-between quickly and easily. I'm new to DVD authoring, but have many years experience with Audio CD production and was hoping this would be a little more intuitive.
