Persian Subtitles inverted

I hope someone in here can help me because i am running out of ideas what to do. I have a DVD with persian (Farsi) subtitles. I don't speak or read Farsi myself, so i got the translations in a wordfile with the font Zar2.

I then copied them into a txt subtitle file (they already had the timecodings) and saved it in arabic encoding. I also setup the configuration at the bottom like this:

#Subtitle text attribute begin
#/R:1,444 /FN:Zar2 /CS:178 /FS:22 /AL:l /FP:8 /FC:1,1 /OC:2,1 /BC:2,1
#Subtitle text attribute end

So far no problems, the subtitles display perfectly, are in sync, the font is correct etc. in the preview window and in the final preview of the DVD too.

But when i render the DVD and then put it into a DVD player or play the .vob files, the farsi reads from left to right instead of from right to left, making it completely unreadable.

Any ideas or recommendations are appreciated. How can the program show it right and the DVD wrong???

Do you have XP enabled for R>L scripts. This is important.

In the Windows Regional and Language Options, under "Language" you have to select an option which says something to this effect (I don't have English language XP). In French the option allows the installation of something like "complex scripts and scripts from right to left".

Also, make sure you have all the patches installed.

However, my personal experience with Arabic and Hebrew was very disappointing. If you want to import txt files which you will have saved using the option "bidirectional text", you will probably run into problems. DVD Workshop is unable to import a file with that attribute!! In the end i had to accept this and bring in a file which was behaving weirdly (questions marks automatically jumped to the beginning of the line etc. etc)

I struggled for two weeks with these issues, and was unable to solve them. In the end, I asked the translator to formulate questions in a way that it looks like a question even without question mark...

I had to conclude DVD Workshop does not handle correctly text which goes from right to left.

For text on a menu, there is no way that it works correctly for non-Latin characters.

For subtitles, it can be made to work but it is still iffy. They should be typed directly, rather than imported, for easiest results.

Kikiaoe did say that he does not speak or read farsi, so it may not be realistic to expect him to type in farsi subtitles. He probably has no choice but to import a translated txt file. But since DVD Workshop cannot import bidirectional txt files, there will be problems.
