Why oh why is there a red line above the timeline?

I run into this all the time and usually undo will take it back off, but sometimes it does not and that is the situation today. I was setting beginning and end points and for a clip and wham - there is the red line.
Can anyone help me get rid of this? What in the hell causes this? Why does it make my playhead move to it everytime and screw up my editing? Thanks for any help/ solutions.

The red line signifies your preview range set by setting start and end points.

Simply drag the triangular sliders under the preview window back to zero at either end and the line should disappear.

You need to remember to do so before creating a video file or burning it since only the part under the red line will actually be rendered...

I took the clip that the red line was in the middle of and moved the sliders or in and out points out fully and it didn't go away. I tried that before I posted, along with every other clip in this enormous project. Any other suggestions?

I think the key here is Clips. The Preview Range refers to your entire Project, so you need to be in Project Mode. Simply click the word Project above Clip. Then drag the handles out to the edges.

project did the trick. Thanks gentlemen for all you're help. I've been working on this waaaay too long I think! I appreciate all of you're suggestions/ help.
