Why is it important to have the lastest version of Quick Time, Real Player, and Direct X loaded on your PC to use Video Studio 10 (or earlier versions)?
Thank you,

Real Player is most definitely NOT a must have, and I refuse to load it or any other Real product on my computer. Too invasive.
But as Heinz says, DirectX 9 in some flavour is obligatory, and QT for Quicksound if you want to use that facility. Unfortunately, the small selection of Quicksound tracks provided with the program quickly grow stale. So you are left with the option of simply not bothering with it in the first place (in which case QT is not strictly necessary). Or you can buy more SmartSound discs for the incredible price of US$99 each (though some - not many - are cheaper).
