Post by mullyman »

Is there a way to edit a DVD? I was able to copy some old video tapes of family events on to a DVD via my DVR, I would like to edit these using the software how do I capture the dvd so I can edit and produce a finished product with titles, music etc.

...how do I capture the dvd so I can edit and...?
Assuming you have Movie Factory 4 or 5, choose Import. (Movie Factory 3 had a different procedure.)

If you have trouble (some DVDs won't import) you can try using VOB 2 MPG (FREE!!!) to make an MPEG file from your DVD.

And, a little warning - DVD are MPEG and MPEGs can sometimes cause trouble when you edit them. If you do get any weird problems (crashing or lip-sync problems) you may need to get a special purpose MPEG editor, or you may need to get a program that can convert your MPEGs to DV (AVI/DV) before editing.
