Hi, I have just uploaded my first website:www.yeahjamaica.com
which I have created with photoimpact 11 alone. No other software was used. One problem though, the pages seem to load in blocks in comparison to other sites. However if you refresh or reload the page it loads ok. What did I do wrong?
I hope you like it though.
Let me know what you all think.
enjoy.
My first website ..but

Well, I can't look at your web site. I get an APACHE HTTP server test page.
You asked what you did wrong. Without looking at it I can't say much but I'm not surprised that your site loads differently to others you have looked at. These, in all probability, were not made in PI 11 alone. PI is an image creation program, not a web site creation tool. It has limited html capabilities but no serious web designer would use it for the creation of web sites. Graphics for web sites, yes, but not complete sites.

It loaded OK with Firefox and I must say it is quite impressive and I didn't know that PhotoImpact could do all of that alone I particularly liked the hyperlinked buttons.
I shall copy this over to the IMAGING Forum where Ron (vidoman) and myself are attempting to encourage users to share with the forum examples of their work.
When I get the chance I shall have to take a look at the PhotoImpact Web Creation Module(s) - just a bit busy at present with some video projects plus my wife has instructed me to get some decorating done.

Now I could view it as well, must have been a temporary server issue.
I agree, very impressive. I knew PI can do web pages but, as you may have noticed, they load rather slowly because these are very heavy on images. The whole page is all but image.
It would be very hard to update content on this on a regular basis, I think, especially if you have a lot of pages. Would be interesting to know how much storage space is neede on the server for this.

Hi
Nice web page.
Amazing what you can do with Photo Impact.
AFAIK
The slow loading and loading in blocks is caused by using image files.
There is an impressive 134 images to this page alone.
Looking at the page I would expect maybe 10 / 20 images or so, the remainder being text.
You have used text for the headers at the top.
Most of the ¡¥text¡¦ has been made into images.
This has increased the page file dramatically increasing the load time.
I realise that some are gif¡¦s and may-be need the transparency but 109 are jpegs used mainly for text.
The buttons, you may have been able to use the same images for all buttons, changing only the hyperlink.
Anyhow it does look good, just the initial opening of the page that¡¦s slow.
All the Best
Trevor
