Sound delay on DVD

Post by BMarks »

Hi !

I have downloaded the trial of DVD MovieFactory 5 and now i have the following problem:

I have recorded files (Mpeg2 recorded from my TV Card) and i want to convert them to DVDs.
If I do this with MovieFactory, the sound has a delay of about one second.

Anyone got a idea how I can fix that?
The program is really interesting to me, but its useless with this bug.

Yours Bjoern

P.S.: I searched for this issue already, but didnt find the answer yet.
If i overlooked it, Im sorry for that and it would be nice to post the link.

Just by typing "OOS", out of sync in plain english but I used this acronym, I got a three page return. Makes for interesting reading.

I have a basic understanding of the greek language. However, more often than not, when talking with ethnic greeks, I only understand half of what they say. Must be a bug in their language. 8)

Just because you get OOS issues when editing a distribution format (mpeg2) does not indicate a bug, even though it is reproduceable. It's a shortcoming of the format not the program.

If you need to work with mpeg2 at low bitrates, get yourself a dedicated mpeg editor like Womble. I'm sure you will find the link to it if you start reading the numerous post on OOS problems with mpeg files.

Personally, I wouldn't let Ulead off so easily... There is nothing in the manual that says MPEG editing is not supported, nor is there a warning in the manual or in the program that says you might have problems. It just goes-along and makes a defective DVD (or it crashes).

I'm hopeful that when Corel takes-over Ulead, they will give some attention to some of these on-going issues...

I'm not letting off ULEAD that easily but it is a known fact that lots of people get OOS problems when editing low bitrate mpeg2.

In the absence of a fix from Ulead, I'm advising the OP of that fact.

I'm glad you expect things to change for the better when Corel take over. I doubt that very much judging by my own experiences with Corel in the past.

Dumb question!

What is the recommended bitrate or simplified, is mp2, mp3, wav or what best for adding audio to a dvd? I think I will be using 41000sampling stereo 16bit, is this sufficient or should I go better? I am clueless here for this project, any words of advice will help!

chelli,

Please start a new thread for this question. (DVD audio is 48kHz, 16-bit with a couple of compression options.)
