I have a video project that was edited, rendered then burned to dvd [mpeg] thru Ulead video studio.
I imported the dvd back into Ulead video studio as a new project in order to pull a few clips that I would like to upload to here or YouTube.
what format do I need to convert the clip or clips to and would I use Nero for the conversion?
thank u..

From the Youtube website :-
I have uploaded .wmv files but was not terribly happy with the result - watchable but fairly poor quality - see here :-

You can create all formats within VideoStudio although you will need the DivX pack (from www.divx.com) to be able to create DivX files
YouTube wrote:What video file formats can I upload?
YouTube accepts video files from most digital cameras and camcorders, and cell phones in the .AVI, .MOV, and .MPG file formats.
What's the best format to upload for high quality?
We recommend the MPEG4 (Divx, Xvid) format at 320x240 resolution with MP3 audio, at 30 frames per second. Resizing your video to these specifications before uploading will help your clips look better on YouTube.

Yep, nice elephants Brian.
For sharing high quality videos online, have a look at DivX Stage6 http://stage6.divx.com/. As Brian said, you'll need the DivX bundle to create DivX files. The only downside of Stage6 is that you also need to have the DivX web viewer installed in order to view the video online.
For YouTube, use VS or whatever converter you like, if you use the settings posted by Brian it won't make much difference what you use, they'll probably look average anyway...YouTube always does
.
peace.
