How to use the "CUT" feature in studio 10

Post by na29861 »

I have downloaded the trial version of Studio 10. I am trying to cut out 10 minutes of a show I recorded. I have it transfered to Studio, my problem is, how do I cut out the 10 minutes I do not want?

Thanks

Move the timeline cursor to the point at which you want to start the removal - click on the scissor icon, move the cursor to the end of the section for removal - click on the scissor icon. click on the bit you want to remove to highlight it - hit the 'Delete' key on your keyboard.

Go to "Share >> Create Video File" and create a new file with the bit missing.

job done.

The basic rule is - 1 hour of top quality video or 2 hours of "acceptable" quality per DVD - longer if you are prepared for some degradation in quality.

Quality (and therefore time) is selectable in the burn module

So if the show I recorded on DVD originally is 2hrs 40 mins, after cutting out the 10 minutes I dont want, how do I get the remaining 2 hrs 30 mins that I want to burn, onto 1 DVD?

You will be able to fit it by lowering the "bitrate" - have a read of this thread :-

which should help you.

But the quality will be pretty poor if you are talking about a single layer disc.

I have tried "cutting out" the section according to the instructions given here and I can't get it. I thought I had it but when I went to burn the final copy, I got about 20 mins of nothing at the begginning of the DVD and then about 15 mins of nothing at the end. Should I be using Video Studio Editor or Movie Wizard when trying to edit my video? I went into Movie Wizard while ago, inserted my video, then when I got to the begiining of the section I want to cut, I pressed the scissors button, a message appeared saying: The neighboring transition effects will be removed. Do you want to continue. I stopped and came here. Is there an instruction manual that can be downloaded with detailed step by step instructions on the different functions of Video Studio? Once I do something one time or see it done I can remember.

Thanks
