Hi

When viewing 16:9 in Video Studio, the frame looks rectangular, showing black bars top and bottom.

Read my quick guide 16:9 A look at widescreen
Shows what the preview window looks like when viewing widescreen.
You will identify the frame and unsued parts of the screen.

Hope this Helps

You can place the video onto an overlay track and resize to whatever you wish. Obvioulsy you cannot make a rectangle into a square and so there will be a certain amount of cropping.
Alternatively you can use the crop filter and here you will get an option not unlike the one you have described in your post.

Hi Waldi2007

Its annoying when broardcasts are shown like this
Using a black frame to simulate widescreen is a bit poor, especially with all the technology available nowadays.

I do not think there is much you can do during the capture stage.
You will capture 4:3 frame.
Right click a clip in the timeline and select properties.

Your only option, if you require 16:9, as Steve has indicated is to stretched the frame.

Changing from 4:3 to 16:9 results in the frame being cropped top and bottom.
You will lose the black parts.

You can achieve 16:9 using the main timeline or the overlay track.

Start a new project
Change the Project Properties to indicate 16:9
(I find changing the background color from black helps identify the 16:9 frame.)

Insert your video
For the main timeline ¡V select Attributes tab
Select Distort Clip

Right click preview window
Select fit to screen
Right click preview window
Select keep aspect ratio.

Render project to a new file, you should be able to use the Same as Project settings.

Hope this helps
