'Locking' music background tracks

Post by Screwball »

When using a music background track that relates to and is fitted to a particular sequence, if, as an afterthought, I insert another video clip, the music background from that point on shifts forward and I have the lengthy task of re-aligning the tracks throughout the entire video. Is there a way to 'lock' a soundtrack to a particular video clip?

Yes. You need to use the Ripple Editing function within Video Studio. Check out page 64 of the user manual.

Thankyou both

Thankyou both. Just returned from an Austrian Chrismas and are compiling the longest project ever! Difficult enough to find sound overlays that perfectly suit without having to re-arrange them constantly.

But please take note of the the other Kenneth's good advice -- first compile and edit all your video, trimming it and arranging it in the final order. Then hunt for the suitable background music overlays and trim them. It's just less of a headache if you are going to be quite literally chopping and changing the video all the time to be worrying about the background music at that stage.
