I read and read but still end up with my 7 clips on the timeline. I hit the share. A clip starts playing in what seems like slow motion while the % rendering doesn't change. What's going on????? Is that putting it together? At that pace it will take hours for a one and a half hour movie???

For me rendering usually takes 1-1.5 times the length of the project. So for a project of your size would take anywhere from 1.5 - 2.5 hours on my machine, dependent of course, on the number and complexity of titles, transitions, etc.

Rendering is a very long process. We have no idea about your computer specifications. But Jeff has just given you his estimate of rendering times based on his own machine (press his System button to see his computer specs.)

If you press my own System button, you will see my computer specs. Usually for me rendering takes from 1x to 1.25x the time of the project, but will also take more if the project has complicated edits or transitions.

If your computer is more powerful than ours, the rendering time will be a bit less, but possibly not by much depending on precisely what type of mean machine you might be running. And if it is not as strong, then it will take correspondingly longer. Some people in this category may take up to 3 or 4 hours for a project your length.

So don't bother sitting and watching the progress bar. It's a bit like watching grass grow!! Go out, have lunch, go to bed, watch TV, read and come back later. But don't do anything else on the computer as you don't want to interfere with the resources being devoted to the rendering.

It's been explained several times and not understood, I give up too.

Time for my morning prayer: Dear God, grant me patience.... but hurry it up.

It's working but I sure didn't expect it to take longer than the original movie. I think I'll go back to the old way. I only have to spend time recording instead of recording, editing, rendering, and what ever else it takes. When they talk about editing, I though digital would be easier. All my work is with old VHS tapes of movies I recorded years ago. I can still convert them for burning to DVD but it's simpler to leave the commericals in and FF through when I watch the movie.
