hi, i got a sony dcr-sr100 about and month ago and was wondering if to buy studio 10 plus, i've had experiance at editing with pinnacle 9 but i can not get this programme to work with my new sony. any advice would be great. many thanks.

Your camera is a hard-drive camera, so it's going to record in MPEG-2. You'll probably need to use the Sony software to transfer the video to your computer. Technically speaking, you are not going to capture the video. You are going to transfer the MPEG video data to your hard drive.
In general, the Ulead programs can handle MPEG-2 (DVDs are MPEG-2) and so can Pinnacle. But, some of us have had occasional weird problems with MPEGs. (My signature/tagline below was inspired by some of these problems!

Now, when I need to edit an MPEG, I use Womble (~ $100 USD). I still use Ulead to author and burn the DVDs.
