Questions about 16:9 output and maintaining that format

Post by railroadguy »

I have a problem / question about converting for youtube and other programs that out put FLV files.

I have a 8 minute video of images with fades between and titles. Also an mp3 sound track. I did all this in 16:9 using the zoom feature on the images. No problems. The final DVD is fantastic as is the final mp4. Now when I use another program, Web Video Player from Coffee Cup, to make the FLV files and player for the Web, it pushes the video into 4:3 format. (not cut the top and bottom but make things taller in order to maintain the 4:3) I know this is not a Coffee Cup forum, but the question becomes, if the mp4 output is 16:9 and I convert it, should it not stay 16:9, that is letterboxed?

I have tried this outputting many ways but the conversion to FLV is always 4:3 and the image is pushed up as you would expect.

Anyone done this and able to convert or upload to youtube and maintain the 16:9 format?
