Video Studio 10+ Overlay questions

Post by DallanC »

Hello, new Video Studio 10+ user here.

I have a couple questions I hope someone can answer. We are trying to make a DVD filled with still pictures and a sound track.

I add the images to the images view, I can drag and drop them onto the overlay track, add a sound track and it plays just as I would like and expect. I have 2 questions about it though.

1) When I drag an image onto the overlay track, its not set to full screen but rather reduced by a bit. I have to right click on the image and tell it to be full screen.

Is there a way to have new images dragged onto the overlay track be auto sized to full screen? If not is there a way to select all images in the overlay track and set them to be full screen at once? Seems tedious to have to do this for every single image... hundreds of them.

2) Once an image is drug onto the overlay track, I can drag the edge of it to let it display for X amount of time. The default is 2 seconds. Is there a way to auto set new overlays to be 4 or 6 seconds? If not is there a way to set the display lengths of all of the overlays at once in a batch process?

Maybe some other software might be better at what I need to do... I thought Ulead10+ would be the ticket and while it does work, having to hand edit 600-700 images setting them to full screen as well as the display length to 6 seconds seems tedious.

Ideas / suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I'm thinking I need different software IMO... maybe PictureShow or something. Basically my wifes dad is dying and they are wanting to put together a slideshow dvd with pictures of his life on it. I know for a fact my wife has scanned in over 500 pictures in the past week... I dont know exactly how many she will actually use in the dvd. 1 Hour of images would be 60min*60sec / 4 seconds per image = 900 images.

So why the overlay track and not the video track?
You can specify the default duration and also a default transition for the video track in project preferences.

I tried dropping the image on the video track and nothing happened... stuck it on the overlay track and wala, it worked. I'll try the video track again.

Also in 'Preferences' you can click to set the option "Use fit to screen as the default in the Overlay track'

In fact everything your asking DallanC can be set in 'Preferences'

To access the preferences options - click on 'File' then choose 'preferences' - OR press 'F6' while using VideoStudio - then use all the tabs at the top to find the options you require.
